As August comes to a close, I've noticed that more and more comments and memes of "omg it's almost fall" are starting to creep in my social feeds. While fall is OF COURSE my favorite season (hello birthday month, halloween, and pumpkin spiced everything), there is one thing I dread about it every single year: lack of season appropriate outfits to share. I complain about it every time, but we don't get fall weather here until about November. So while bloggers in other parts of the country are taking out their over-the-knee boots, leather jackets and beanies, I'm still wearing shorts and crop tops.

It can be frustrating when your heart screams "I want to wear scarves again!" and the weather sneers back at you, "No, you're gonna have to sweat it out a while longer." For times like these, I try to remember a couple tricks for incorporating bits of fall into my summer wardrobe. These are my top 3:

1. Swap out for your darker accessories: In the summer I'm all about fanny packs, small cross-body bags, and my straw drawstring bag. You know, things that are lightweight and require little effort. For fall I move on to my black accessories like this structured bag that can fit my chunky cardigan in it (when I eventually need it). For some reason my purses always get bigger in the fall because I have more to carry; am I the only one?

 2. Add suede accents: When it's still too hot to whip out a suede jacket, I can still apply smaller suede accents to my outfits that won't make me sweat like a pig--like this simple skinny belt or these timeless suede Marc Fisher LTD heels from Zappos. I'd recommend sticking with a neutral color that way you have more options to pair them with! (PSA: Zappos just released a bunch of new styles for fall y'all should def check out--these booties are next on my list!)

3. Apply a dark red/plum lip: It's rare to catch me wearing a dark lip--usually I just stick to one neutral shade that I wear in 95% of my outfit posts. But when the new season comes around, I tend to rebel against the lingering summer weather with my makeup. The one above is Lancôme in "Wine Party" (AKA my kind of party). I also love their other plum shade, "All Done Up."

What's your go-to summer to fall transition tip(s)?
