Y'all, I was SO CLOSE to not bringing my Tortuga carry-on backpack & borrowing my friend's big suitcase instead. I wanted as many outfit options as possible. Once I laid out everything I wanted to bring, I realized stuffing it all into a carry-on wasn't impossible... Sure I couldn't bring every pair of sandals I wanted, but I brought the ones that mattered. Actually, looking back at these outfits now, I could have totally done without my nude block-heels from Target which I ONLY brought for nice dinners; you can't even tell they have a heel in photos! They look just like the Sam Edelman sandals I'm wearing in most of the other outfits... So that was an unnecessary item. Still, I'm happy to report that I wore EVERYTHING I brought on the trip. Next time, I won't be bringing heels. Let this be a reminder to me.

The main thing I regretted packing? My curling wand. Turns out Hawaii weather doesn't give a hoot if you spend 30+ minutes curling your hair for a nice dinner; the wind, the rain, the humidity... just, no. I added unwanted weight to my bag for no reason with that thing, so to any women reading this looking for tips of what to take to Hawaii... don't do it! Just go natural. I wish I knew!

With Hawaii packing, just remember that less is more ESPECIALLY if you plan to be at the beach most of the time. For me, I only took one bathing suit because I knew I wasn't going to be making many visits to the beach. I'm more of a "do things" type of vacationer as opposed to the relax type, so I made sure to bring my Chacos sandals for plenty of walking and outdoor adventures. Flip flops definitely came in handy for taking walks on the beach or around the hotel. If you plan to go zip-lining, be sure to plan ahead and bring some close-toed shoes. Also, I was worried I wouldn't get any wear out of my jeans at all--but if you plan to make a trip up a volcano like I did (it's called Haleakalā in Maui), you'll need them. It was ~50 degrees up there! Plus, my jeans came in handy whenever it rained as well. Hawaii weather is all over the place! You have to be prepared for anything.

Let me know if you have any questions! xo
