2015 Goals

Alright, my first post of the new year! Let’s do this. I found this on Pinterest and thought it would be a pretty cool guideline to follow for my new year’s goals. I try not to just come up with one big new year’s resolution anymore because I usually never follow through with it, haha. Smaller goals are doable. Smaller goals help you actually accomplish something in the new year! I did the same thing last year, so I’m doing it again this year. 🙂

A bad habit I’m going to break – Buying poor quality clothes that I want right then and there, then wearing them once (or sometimes never) only to eventually forget about them. This is hard for me because on the one hand, I love clothes, and on the other hand, I hate spending a lot of money. So we’ll see how this plays out.

A new skill I’d like to learn try – I put “try” instead of “learn” because that was too much pressure for me, haha. A couple skills I wouldn’t mind trying are typography design and painting. There’s this class you can take near my house called “Painting with a Twist” where they teach you how to paint something while you drink wine at the same time. Sounds fun!

A person I hope to be more like – There are actually a few people I can think of that I hope to be more like. I have a friend who can find a silver lining in any situation. I have a friend who works very hard and never gives up on her goals. I have a cousin who left her office job behind just to travel the world. I have a mom who is so charitable and kind and never asks for anything in return. I have a grandma who lived her life to the fullest and spread joy everywhere she went. So yeah, I’ve got some pretty great role models in my life. 🙂

A good deed I’m going to do – Pay for someone’s Starbucks drink behind me in a drive-thru. I always like hearing about when stuff like that happens! I would also like to volunteer at the animal shelter more often.

A place I’d like to visit – Wait, I have to choose just one? That’s impossible. I can’t. I wanna go to France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Spain, Japan, Thailand, Australia, Canada… I mean, take your pick! Places that may be more doable? Newport, Rhode Island… Marfa, Texas… The Four Corners, anywhere in Vermont, Jackson Hole, Wyoming… Too many to name. I’ve got a long way to go!

A book I’d like to read – Next on my list is Gone Girl! But I’d also like to read the Divergent series and The Hobbit… those were on my reading list last year, but I never got around to it. Oops! ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Also on my list are Yes Please, #Girlboss and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

A letter I’m going to write – My good friend (who lives in San Antonio) and I used to write letters back and forth all the time while we were in college. Then I graduated and she went to nursing school, and I guess we both just didn’t have the time anymore. This year I’m going to try and pick up the habit of writing to her again.

A new food I’d like to try – I’m having trouble answering this one because I have eaten a lot of food in my days. There isn’t anything I won’t try at least once. This time last year my answer would have been a macaroon or a lobster roll, but I finally ate both this past summer (delicious, by the way)! Anyway, my answer this year will be a falafel. I had to Google it to find what it even is, and I definitely have not had one. Where does one even find a falafel?

I’m going to be better at – Thinking positively. I want to write down everything good that happens to me in 2015 & put them in a jar for me to read in a year (another Pinterest idea, yes). I know a lot of awesome things happened to me last year, but I’m sure I’m forgetting some too. This will help me remember!

So here’s to a new year and new beginnings! What are your goals this year?
