The weekend before New Years Eve, Matt had told me that he and his mom had a surprise trip planned for me. No one would tell me where we were going! My main guesses were either somewhere in Vermont or Rhode Island. Little did I know we were headed to NYC! I was in complete shock, but in the best way!
We got there in the early afternoon and after dropping off our bags at the hotel, we walked over to Time Square. It was SO crowded which was expected since it was almost NYE, but wow… I was definitely out of my element there. Plus I’m sure I looked like a total tourist with my DSLR camera around my neck, haha. I have been to NYC before (I think it was in the spring of 2004), but never during Christmas time. It was magical! Decorative lights were everywhere, and we saw the huge Christmas tree in front of Rockefeller Center which basically took my breath away. Later on that evening, we went to a Broadway show called “Kinky Boots”. It was so good! I’d recommend it.
The next morning went by too fast. We went to Bryant Park where there was an ice skating rink surrounded by little shops and food vendors. I finally got to try an apple cider donut for the first time (yumm)! We had to check out of our hotel by noon & head back to Massachusetts. So even though we were only in the city for one night, it was totally worth it!
