13 Countries, 13 Minutes

I’m back! Well, I’ve been back for awhile now, but I’m still trying to get my mindset back to reality. It’s hard to believe I was gone for a whole 6 weeks doing nothing but traveling, having new experiences, and making lifelong memories. To bound from city to city in Europe while living out of a suitcase has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so grateful for all the sights seen, the cultures experienced, and the people met along the way. I will forever cherish this time in my life.

Being back home is weird. I miss the beaches in Greece, the architecture in Spain, the food in Italy, the beer in Belgium, the history in Germany, the all-around vibe in Amsterdam, and the amazing views in Ireland and Scotland. I miss public transit. I miss seeing each country freak out over their team during the Euro Cup. I miss talking to the locals and pretending I could understand their language (although in Italy and Spain I did pretty well). I feel like I stepped into a time warp—like, did that really happen? It must have, because I have this video as proof.

My friend told me about this app called “1 Second Everyday” that allows you to piece together literal seconds from multiple videos and compile them together to make one long presentation. I tried to take a little video of most moments I wanted to remember, and the final product turned out to be about 13 minutes long. Which, if you’re doing the math, is about 780 seconds I filmed. Hey, 6 weeks and 13 countries is a lot of content to capture! It goes by fast though. People keep wanting to hear about my trip, and I think this video does a better job of summing up what I can’t put into words. Enjoy!
