Happy Valentine’s Day! Are y’all up to anything tonight to celebrate? I’ll be spending the evening with my parents because who else would I be hanging out with on the most ~romantic~ day of the year? But honestly, I’m perfectly fine with that. As long as I still have a reason to get dressed up, I’m good. I may be single as hell, but that will never stop me from dawning my best red or pink ensemble for Valentine’s Day. The only thing that bums me out about it this year is that I can’t stuff my face with chocolate strawberries (a yearly tradition) since I gave up chocolate as one of my 2017 goals. Yes, I’m still sticking to it, and yes, it is still the worst. Whose idea was this, anyway? Don’t answer that.
Y’know, there aren’t many pieces of clothing that made it through my “must try ALL THE TRENDS” phase back in 2012 (honorable mentions that didn’t last: floral print jeans, the bubble necklace, denim vests, lace shorts, and of course the high-low skirt… I cringe!!), but this dress has managed to stick around through it all. Do you remember when drop-waist dresses were new to the scene and suddenly popped up everywhere? I wanted to rock the trend so badly, but most of the dresses I tried on were either a complete fail or ended up just making my legs look stumpy (#shortgirlproblems). Then this little number shown above called to me from across the madness that is Forever 21, and I gave it a shot not expecting to like it at all. I love when fashion still manages to surprise me. For years this dress has been in constant rotation for me, yet I noticed I have never worn it once on the blog. So here’s its debut! I’m only five years late. My b.
