I don’t know about y’all, but when it comes to shopping, I love being able to get everything I need in one general place… and yet I hate going to malls (mainly because of the crowds).
Thankfully in Austin we have the BEST little street in the heart of downtown for anything you need whether it’s clothes, food, home decor, beauty supplies, you name it. The 2nd Street District is only a 5 minute walk away from where I work, so I’m there quite a lot actually, especially during the holidays when I have no idea what to get anyone for Christmas!
A couple weeks ago for my “birthday weekend” with friends, they asked what I wanted to do that day & I immediately suggested going to 2nd Street. We started in the morning by getting some coffee from Jo’s, then made our way next door to ModCloth where I got some kitchen knick-knacks for my stepmom (fun fact: I used to work here when it first opened! The staff are the friendliest people ever).
After crossing the street we went into Luxe Apothetique which is my personal favorite for all things chic & unique–if you need something for the fashionable friend in your life, this place should be at the top of your list. Finally I made sure to stop into Austin Rocks which also has trendy clothes (I even did a collab with them last year) but also has a BUNCH of Austin-related things I love to get for my out-of-town friends. All in all, it was a successful shopping trip.
Oh & before I forget, 2nd Street District is also having a lot of awesome holiday events this year too! On December 6th from 6-10pm they’ll be having their Sip, Shop, Sleigh event at the W Austin with light bites and speciality cocktails, a photobooth and holiday pop-up shops from the District’s best local retailers.
Then on December 14th from 5-8pm they’ll be hosting their annual 2nd Street Social where La Condesa (a modern Mexican food restaurant) will provide a one-night-only prix fixe dinner and District stores will provide select offerings for event attendees.
Eat, drink, shop & be merry! ;o)
