My #1 Shopping Tip for On-The-Fence Pieces

This post is sponsored by Zappos

This outfit may look simple and nothing special, but I’ve been wearing this top constantly lately & felt I needed to share this cute look that kinda happened by accident.

See, I actually bought this top as a co-ordinate set from Forever 21, but of course I wore the matching bottoms once, washed them, and now they are too inappropriate to wear in public due to shrinking in the wash. It’s probably karma for still partaking in fast fashion (which I know is bad but damn y’all my budget can’t afford most quality stuff… sigh).

Even though the bottoms for this set are donezo, I still love the top & noticed that the floral pattern on it kinda paired well with these flower patches on my denim skirt from Zappos (which, because it’s denim, goes with SO MUCH in my closet!) — so not a complete loss!

The best part about a black & white print is that it pretty much goes with anything; for example, I’ve worn this exact top with some olive shorts, my denim high waist jeans, and a yellow pencil skirt as well.

My #1 tip for when you’re shopping and on-the-fence or unsure about a piece: if you can’t think of 3 ways to remix the piece with other clothes in your wardrobe, don’t buy it.

By following this rule, you’ll slowly start to build a more cohesive wardrobe where you’ll have a wider variety of options when planning outfits without needing to buy more clothes (saving you money and time in the long run!); how many of your closet pieces do you currently have that fall under this rule?
